FIRM PROFILE

LIMBACHER & GODFREY ARCHITECTS is an award-winning architecture, planning and historic preservation firm created by Laurie Limbacher and Alfred Godfrey, who together bring over 50 years of experience to their projects.  The firm was begun in 1995 and since inception has completed new construction, renovation, remodeling, restoration and master planning projects for a wide range of clients in Central and South Texas.  The firm’s client base includes educational, institutional, governmental, commercial and private entities.  The firm is currently working on the restoration of the Deep Eddy Bathhouse, the first Works Progress Administration sponsored project in Austin.  The project is currently under construction with completion anticipated for Spring of 2007.  This project is expected to bring the bathhouse into fully usable condition, with expanded showering and dressing facilities, a concession stand and administrative offices. The firm is also working on the North Village Branch Library is a new 11,000 sq. ft. building that serves five North Austin neighborhoods, doubling the size of the storefront branch it replaces. This library embraces a new vision for libraries in Austin.  It is designed to be a light filled community destination, where books, computers and people mingle.  It will feature age-appropriate places for children, teenagers and adults, as well as a community room for programs, clubs and life learning.  They have recently completed work on the Juniper Street and Olive Street Historic District Master Plan, which analyzed the historic patterns of development and recommended preservation treatments for some of the oldest African-American housing stock remaining in the city, for the Austin Revitalization Authority.   Limbacher & Godfrey Architects is a woman-owned business.  The firm maintains minority business certification with the State of Texas as a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) and with the City of Austin as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE).  The firm is a Texas Corporation.      Laurie Limbacher and Alfred Godfrey are both registered Architects and Interior Designers in the State of Texas.  Their work has received numerous awards at the local, regional and national levels.  They have been married to each other for twenty-two years.
