OLD NUECES COUNTY COURTHOUSE

Rehabilitation
Corpus Christi, Texas

Limbacher & Godfrey served as Historic Preservation Consultant and was co-author of the Historic Structures Report and Preservation Master Plan.  They also served as Historic Preservation Consultant for the subsequent construction documents phase, with a special emphasis on the restoration of the terra cotta banding and ornament.

The Old Nueces County Courthouse was constructed in 1915.  The monumentally scaled, classical building was designed by San Antonio architect Harvey L. Page, who felt it was one of his finest works.  Although the building easily survived the devastating hurrican of 1918, by the early 1970's the exterior masonry skin was severely compromised and failing.  In 1974, the building was abandoned and has continued to deteriorate since.

Rehabilitation construction on the south wing was completed in 2006.
